Since 2020, Professor Zhou has led his team to make full use of the cross-scientific research advantages of mathematics, statistics and medicine, comprehensively utilize epidemiological data, virus gene data, traffic flow data and other information, and, from the perspective of combining statistical and mathematical models, carry out innovative mathematical and statistical model research on key issues such as the transmission characteristics, pattern of development, number of infected people, and vaccination strategies of the novel coronavirus. He has published 22 related papers in the top interdisciplinary journals Science Advances and Nature Communications, the top biostatistics journal Biometrics, and the official journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Engineering. In addition, Professor Zhou's research results have made impact on prevention and control policy of the COVID pandemic in China.
